Leading market segments
Among the cosmetic products sold in Canada, the
revenue of eye cosmetic products was one of the highest in the period from 2014 to 2022. In 2022, it amounted to roughly 0.43 billion U.S. dollars, closely followed by the
revenue generated in the facial cosmetic products segment. By comparison, that same year, the
natural cosmetics revenue was less than half of that.
Canadian cosmetics consumption
According to a survey conducted in 2022, approximately
54 percent of Canadians said that they select body care and cosmetic products based on quality. During the same survey, around 78 percent of respondents stated that the
body care and cosmetic products they use most regularly are personal hygiene products. These were followed by oral care and skin care products. In the same year, 56 percent of surveyed participants in Canada belonged to the shopper typology of the
necessity shopper, when it came to cosmetics and body care products.
As of 2022, the annual
consumer price index for toiletry items and cosmetics was measured at 111.4, where the base year of 2002 equals 100.
