The company’s annual net sales amount to 8.17 billion U.S. dollars, whereof over 7.65 billion U.S. dollars were generated in the United States. The company breaks down its business into five segments. The three U.S. centered segments are retail coffee, retail pet foods, and retail frozen handheld and snacks. U.S. retail coffee was the most valuable segment at 2.7 billion U.S. dollars. The remaining two segments are international and away from home, and sweet baked snacks. In Fiscal year 2024, the latter appeared for the first time in the company’s figures after the acquisition of Hostess Brands in September 2023. Within the retail coffee sales segment, approximately 15 percent are generated from premium coffee and seven percent from instant coffee. In the United States, the company’s well-known family of brands includes Smucker’s, Folgers, Jif, and Dunkin’ Donuts. Nearly 33 percent of Smucker’s sales could be attributed to Walmart.Retreating from the pet food market
In March 2015, the company stepped into the pet food business with the acquisition of the Big Heart brands. Smucker's is now present in the pet food market with brands such as Milk-Bone, Pup-Peroni, and Milo’s Kitchen. In 2018, Smucker also acquired more brands with the addition of Ainsworth pet nutrition. Smucker reversed course after pet food reaching a sales share of over a third of company sales. On April 28, 2023, the company divested several pet food brands to Post Holdings, such as Rachael Ray and Nutrish, as well as its private label business. The contribution of dog food, cat food, and pet snack sales to the company’s net sales still reaches a combined 23.15 percent of total sales.
